I have sold  a lot of these at the car events I do. They are used for displaying your current year and month tags for your vintage license plates. Many of the old plates don't have anywhere to attach your modern tags and most car buffs don't want to put the modern stickers on their valuable vintage plates.
These are designed to be as unobtrusive as possible and are smaller than the ones that you may or may not receive from the DMV. They are made of durable .020 aluminum and mount using your plate mounting bolt. You can mount them at the top or bottom of the plate. Black on one side and plain aluminum on the other. For a flawless finish they are shipped with a peelable protective sheet on the black side.
Just remove it before applying your sticker.
I also offer them in a painted yellow/black version in a separate listing.
