Large Vintage Chinese Cantonese Painted Glass Landscape Rosewood Palace Lantern

Description

Vintage 1960s Chinese Cantonese style rosewood palace lantern with 6 sides featuring reverse painted glass panels featuring traditional landscape scenes. The carved rosewood frame features dragons and phoenixes. Included are 6 three tiered red and gold tassels and 1 single tiered tassel to hang from the base. Also included are 7 small glass panels and 7 long glass panels. An extra glass panel was included for each size and will not be used in the lantern. Made by Kwangtung Ceramics, Arts, & Crafts Import & Export Corporation. Assembly instructions were not included but I found it easier to insert the glass panels into the wooden panels before assembling them to the frame. I am basing the age on the newspaper used as filler inside the packaging, but it could be slightly older.
Dimensions: Full Length 30" x Width 25 3/4" x Depth 22 1/2". Long Tassel Length 28". Short Tassel Length 18".
Weight: Approximately 15 lbs.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Piece was never opened nor assembled. Packages and bundles were opened to ensure no pieces were harmed or damaged. One of the small wooden panels has a repair to the lattice work on top. It is not very noticeable.
Please note: This lantern was found with a second matching lantern frame. I am choosing to sell them separately because the glass panels on the other lantern are completely different (scenes of women). However, if you need a matching pair, you can bid on both and replace the glass panels with paintings or motifs of your choosing, or just plain glass panels if you desire something simpler. The single box that housed both lanterns will also be sold separately.
