Here we have a vintage
PAINTED
RED
Girl Scout
Hospital/Science Technology
Senior Service bar, which was available from
1962 to 1974
(1962 to 1974 it was earned for Office work, 1974-1979 was Science Technology)
.
It has a simple pin-back clasp and it measures about 3/4 inch in diameter by 1/4 inch tall.
These older pins were painted from 1953 to 1980.
While service bars were still available after 1980,
they had a flat enamel finish.
The older, painted pins were very fragile and the paint chipped quite easily.
You can see from the pictures this one has only one has a few small chips, so it is cheaper than a perfect pin would be.

Note on color
: There was also a "Maroon" service bar available during this era.  They can be difficult to tell apart unless you have them side-by-side; I have also included a photo of the maroon so that you can see the difference.
