very nice unrestored 100% original California license plate pair. 1982 issue; number 3D49228.  12x6 inches; blue legend on reflective graphic background.  the sunset design is the first graphic plate that California ever issued, and is in fact the first optional plate style in the entire country.  plates are completely straight and flat.  they have been given a thorough cleaning, and are otherwise just as they came off the barn wall.
these plates are not yet eligible for the DMV YOM program, as the program only is applicable to 1980 or older vehicles.  however, the California legislature is due to extend the program for 1980s vehicles soon, and these should be applicable for 1982 to 1987 vehicles, as those were the years that the sunset plates were made.  at that point, you will be able to register them to your vehicle.  (no, I don't know when that point will occur!)
