    very nice unrestored 100% original California license plate. 1916 issue; number 158697.  13 by 5 inches; blue legend on white background.
    the plate lies completely straight and flat, with excellent original porcelain as seen in the photos.  fresh out of the barn!  validation tab has gone missing decades ago.
    porcelain plates are fragile, because the coating is literally glass fused to the steel.  the California 1915, along with the Pennsylvania 1910, is notorious for having the most fragile porcelain of any state issue.  to protect it from damage, the plate will be packed carefully for transport.
