Police believe they found the bodies of two dogs belonging to a 61-year-old hiker whose remains were discovered alongside a northwest Oregon highway over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said it located what appears to be a pair of large Malinois-mix dogs belonging to Susan Lane-Fournier Saturday.
Lane-Fournier was reported missing on Nov. 22 when she didn’t show up for work. Her husband, 71-year-old Michel Fournier, was arrested in connection with her death. Local media said the victim filed for divorce in October. They’d been married 12 years.
Authorities found Lane-Fournier after a neighbor spotted the victim’s white 1992 Ford F-250 parked in an area visited for its hiking trails. The dogs were unaccounted for when her body was discovered. Investigators said Sunday they were working to confirm the animals’ identities.
Lane-Fournier was located after “800 search hours” that included drone support and K9 units, law enforcement said. Police are asking for help from anyone who may have helpful information about their active homicide case.
